Special Olympics

Miami County Special Olympics is a program of the Recreation Department of the Miami County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Riverside). Miami County Special Olympics offers year-round individual and team sports for individuals with disabilities age eight and older.
Special Olympics contributes to the physical, social, and psychological development of the athletes. Through successful experiences in sports, they gain confidence and build a positive self-image which carries over into the classroom, home, job and community. Miami County Special Olympics offers a variety of sports activities year round including basketball, cheerleading, flag football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming and volleyball.

For more information about participating in Special Olympics or for information about volunteer opportunities with Miami County Special Olympics, call Krista Smith at (937) 310-3260. You can also check out the Recreation Department's monthly newsletter, the RecZone for the latest information about Special Olympics programs, as well as other activities available through our our department.
